My Story
My name is Bex MacArthur, and this is the story of how I found myself through chaos, healing, and a whole lot of unexpected turns. If you’d told me years ago that I’d be here, openly sharing my story and helping others navigate the messy world of mental health, I might not have believed you. But life has a way of throwing curveballs, and somewhere between the late-night panic attacks, the dissociative fogs, and the relentless fight to reclaim my identity, I found my purpose. Along the way, I’ve navigated dissociation, relationships, and motherhood with both grit and grace—sometimes messy, sometimes magical, always real. My experiences have fueled a deep passion for making mental health conversations raw, real, and accessible—because no one should have to face their struggles alone.
It started with feeling lost—finding out that I was splitting myself into pieces just to survive, never quite knowing where I fit. When I finally had words for what was happening—OSDD, the fragments of my past that felt just out of reach, the constant feeling of living on the edges of my own life—I realized I wasn’t alone. That realization changed everything. Living with OSDD meant questioning everything—my memories, my emotions, even my sense of self. Was anything real? Was I? It wasn’t just about survival; it was about learning to trust myself again. Navigating relationships with others who have complex trauma, all while parenting, has given me a perspective I never expected but wouldn’t trade for anything. I know firsthand how isolating it can feel to struggle with identity, memory, and relationships, and I want my work to be a light in the dark for others who feel the same.
Motherhood has been its own kind of adventure. Tyson, Luna, and my soon-to-be little wild one, Jaxon, are my greatest joys and my fiercest motivators. Co-parenting, custody battles, and healing while raising tiny humans have tested me in ways I never expected, but they’ve also made me stronger. I believe mental health conversations should be bold, unfiltered, and stigma-smashing—because too many people suffer in silence, and I refuse to let shame win.
I know what it’s like to search for something—validation, hope, a sign that you’re not broken beyond repair. If that’s what brought you here, you’re not alone. You’re in the right place. So grab a coffee (or whatever keeps you going), settle in, and let’s make mental health conversations something real.
